Clove seeds available
I currently have clove seeds. I have a few listed as private listings on Etsy for people who contacted me on Etsy, sent an Ebay message to somebody who contacted me on Ebay (but haven't heard back) and listings for 10 seeds on Zibbet - 10 clove tree seeds - I hope the link works. I can do a few orders of 50 or 100, but those take some time to prepare and I prefer to send those out early in the week. I do not ship to places that require phytosanitary certificates other than to Puerto Rico (sending my prayers and best wishes for and to all of you there at this time), so please don't ask. Apologies to my waiting list, I hope you find this, I haven't had time to deal with finding all the email addresses, and I can't keep 10 seed and 20 seed orders apart at Ag inspection, so I won't list them at the same time. You may not realize this, but I have to take ever seed order out of its package to be inspected, and I hate getting contents mixed up.

What needs to be inspected by the Hawaii or US Departments of Agriculture and what doesn't - and shipping delays
I posted some of this on Facebook (it's public, you don't have to be on Facebook to read it), but I thought I might make it available to a wider audience.
I'll be trying this being away thing again next week, so if you're ordering anything that needs to go through ag inspection after today/yesterday early morning it will be delayed until next week Friday or possibly the Monday after. I can get orders out that don't need to be inspected through Sunday morning (going out Monday) and may be able to throughout (and I'll try to delete this part after I get back as well as that part of the title).

What needs to be inspected and what doesn't:
I just realized that it may not be clear what needs to be inspected and what doesn't. Obviously plant seeds need to be inspected, including Job's Tears and mgambo seeds, even if they're drilled - when going to most places, see below. I have been meaning to call the USDA whether mgambo seeds still need to be inspected if they are temporarily strung but haven't gotten around to that yet, the Hawaii Department of Agriculture guys told me that I'd have to ask the USDA - because: jewelry made with any of these seeds doesn't have to be inspected (neither does jewelry made with Job's Tears but I won't string those in the amounts that I sell by just to get around ag inspection, so please don't ask). Some seeds cannot be shipped to some states (e.g. citrus seeds cannot be shipped to Florida, though Florida is generally pretty open in what can be sent there). Orders to Puerto Rico require a phyto. This phyto is issued by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture and is free but requires extra paperwork (and an extra day in most cases).
Non-propagative seeds (e.g. drilled mgambo seeds or Job's Tears) don't have to be inspected if they are staying within Hawaii. Coffee seeds cannot be shipped to destinations in Hawaii.
Orders going to Canada also don't have to be inspected here - but Canadian customs/inspection will make sure that you're not getting anything that may become invasive in Canada. As that's rather unlikely for tropical plants those seeds usually go through (I have never experienced a problem there - other than that clove seeds got frozen and didn't survive.).
Orders going to the mainland have to be inspected by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture and we have an inspection place in Hilo. They are open on weekdays only, and they are closed on State Holidays.
Orders going abroad (other than to Canada) have to be inspected by the US Department of Agriculture. Their inspection place relocated not too long ago and is much easier to get to (and the new facilities are much nicer), but they are also only open on weekdays, and they are closed on Federal Holidays. Small orders going to the EU don't require phytos and I usually don't have large orders. I don't ship to countries that require phytos for any seeds or inspection by entities approved by their government (e.g. Belize or Nigeria).
Not being a certified nursery (you won't believe the paperwork required for that) I cannot ship plants out of State, but I can ship within Hawaii, or could the last time I asked. Plants still have to be inspected (think little fire ants and the like. We do have them here, and you seriously don't want them), and as they're usually bulky the postage is going to be quite a bit.
Having written this, I know it contradicts the signs you see at the post offices. What they are saying is that you can't just put it in the mail, you have to comply with the inspection regulations before you do so.
State Agriculture inspection (for domestic orders) will be closed on Thursday, June 11, 2015 for Kamehameha Day.

Update on clove seeds and on tiare seeds
There was a small pod of tiare seeds of which I managed to get most before bird and other critters did. Unfortunately for whoever else is interested on of my long time repeat customers emailed me just that day, could she have 40, and then I looked at my rather short but quite deep waiting list, the first person, another long time repeat customer, wanted 200, counted what I had left and had 185, she got those. That was in mid November.
In the meantime I got one more pod. I'm still processing it but for the time being it's the last one I expect. While I do love my repeat wholesale customers I am going to give my online retail customers a chance this time. I know a lot of you are repeat customers too.
As clove seeds go, I still have some listed in my Artfire, Etsy and Zibbet shops and I just listed a package of 10 on Ebay as well. As the only other seller on Ebay is asking for $23 including shipping for 6 I didn't see going with the previous price for mine either - but it still is much lower. I do not know how many clove seeds I am going to have this time as it appears that our bees died. I am going to raise my wholesale and retail prices but I'm not going to where that other Ebay seller is.

Update on clove seed availability, shipping, and an Etsy treasury
It's a while since the clove seeds started, but they're still slow. If you're on the waiting list for larger orders, that may still be a while but I can accommodate a few small orders per week. Check my on-line shops :).

I have recently changed my policies to say that orders received before 7 a.m. will usually ship on the same day rather than 8 a.m. as it used to say. This is because on some days I have to be at work earlier, and if I start packing an order at 8 and still have to take it to Ag inspection I'm not going to be at work in time for 9 a.m. meetings. Other days orders may still go out if I receive them at 9 a.m. but I can't promise that, so it's 7 and will probably stay that way for a while.
As I received a clove seed order from Canada I found out that I can now ship to at least some countries (Canada is one of them) by first class mail from the USPS website, with the customs form and a tracking number, no more having to go to the post office for that. As I go along I will add shipping to Canada, and probably some other countries to my on-line shops, not just Etsy which has allowed first class international mailing labels for a while already.

Clove seeds - small orders
The clove seeds are coming in slowly. I emailed 3 people on the waiting list who wanted small numbers of seeds but didn't get any takers yet. I positively cannot drive to agriculture inspection and charge for only mileage (I have a full time job. I also have a side business - or 3, seeds are one of them) for fewer than 10 seeds. I put a listing for 10 seeds in my Zibbet shop, and that's about what they'll stay at. Those of you who follow my blog and are interested in more than 10 seeds, they'll happen and I will email you or contact you on the medium you used to contact me when I have them. Please keep in mind that more than half the price for 10 seeds is overhead (ag inspection and shipping). I won't list fewer than 10 seeds but I will probably list larger numbers - and may copy listings to my Artfire and Etsy shops.

Found the first clove seed!
I think it was Wednesday, actually. I went out in the back yard for my Wednesday morning round, pick the lilikoi from the back yard - my lilikoi get picked up on Thursdays -, do some weeding, check whether the one avocado is still on the tree (it was, I got to check again, I don't want the rodents to get it, I want it myself), and pick up whatever cloves the tree dropped (not good enough for selling but good enough for me). And there it was, a big brown clove seed with all its pulp. I don't know how soon there will be more but it looks like there will be an end to the wait that's already over a year long for some. As always, I'm not going to go strictly in order of the waiting list. Larger orders will have to wait until there is a good number of seeds coming in daily, and those who are going to have frost sooner will be notified sooner.

In other news, Team Hilo Etsy is getting a bit more active again, I ordered some new seed beads and some brass cable chain as well as some amethyst fan bead sets but neither of those have arrived yet, and work has me as busy as ever (I was going to put a smiley here but I'd have to use somebody else's script for that so: :)). I didn't make the Trash Art Show this year (haven't even looked at it yet) but I hope to be at the Hilo High School Craft Faire again, it's on Dec. 7 this year, but I haven't sent in the paperwork yet.
Still no news on tiare seeds but there are some pods getting bigger.

Brief update, and I thought I'd post at least a treasury ....
Just a very short update: if the bees are doing their job there will be clove seeds some time this fall or winter, but they're still months away. I'm also waiting for a few tiare seed pods to get ripe but I don't have any of those again yet either. I'll probably post here, but definitely on Facebook when that happens.
In the meantime my lilikoi seeds made it into another treasury:

Yes, I'm back
I'm back, have been for over a week, and we did visit with our daughter for a few days (finally publicly admitting that we went further than Kona this time :)), but I can't really say I'm caught up yet. Getting back sick and having to do some extra work at work doesn't help :)
I'm working on it ...
I am planning to order more seed beads, really this time as I'm running out of some colors, slowly getting caught up on drilling mgambo seeds, but no new tiare seeds or clove tree seeds yet.
And no pictures this time, but I hope to post some vacation pictures sooner or later.

There's an end to this clove tree seed season
After about 10 months of having clove tree seeds there really is an end now. I found about 10 in the last 2 weeks. Not enough to put an order of any size together that is worth mailing, considering that they have to be inspected and/or mailed. I will now have time to deal with the large amount of seedlings (which I cannot ship, please don't ask) and try to sell them locally. I'm sure I will lose most of them in transplanting as clove seedlings are forever finicky. If any of my local readers interested, please let me know, you got first dibs (on the ones that are already in planters).
In the meantime I have picked some more Job's Tears which you can find in my Etsy, Artfire and Zibbet shops (under hilobeads), but still way less than I sold last year so I may run out again later in the year. The main time to pick those is now or past, they really are a mostly winter crop here.
As winter crops go in Hawaii, as little success as I had with snow peas I decided not to plant any this winter. My arugula is already bolting (but it tends to do that in April), and much to my surprise my tree kale is blooming. I have no idea what to do with that. Tree Kale, for all I know isn't supposed to bloom, so it remains to be seen what comes off that. I really hope it won't die on me as I found it really difficult to get another one after the last one died.
It's time to plant my pole beans and tomatoes. The celery and green onions are doing OK so far.
