Well, I wasn't originally planning on carrying seed beads, but things happen. One of my customers doesn't want to order form Firemountain, but she wants Ornela seed beads. I have a wholesale supplier, and I have some now. For now they're on the 'other' web page.
Other than that, I have some mgambo seeds now but need some notice if you want them drilled as I sell about as many as seeds as as beads, and the same is true for the Royal Poinciana seeds, which make fabulous spacer bars. As I drill by hand the Royal Poinciana seed spacer bars are "best efforts" 8mm hole separation as I usually drill them. If you want some with a different separation or with just one hole, please send me email. I haven't tried drilling them lengthwise yet, but I expect that to be difficult.

Trying to catch up

I should finally try to catch up with the blog. Since the last entry I got sterling silver wire 24 to 18 gauge (selling by the foot, ask for prices), some AB2X Swarovski crystals, mgambo seeds, and I started drilling those as well as double drilling Royal Poinciana seeds into spacer bars.
I made one bracelet with some of those. As is normal with Job's Tears, they are very hard to match in sizes and so some of the spacers aren't at right angles (as you can see). It's for sale at $10.-.
I'm in the process of ordering some Ornela seed beads, mostly for a customer, but they'll be up for sale as well once I get them. We have a definite shortage of good seed beads here, the only (other) source I know of is Sara at the Hilo Farmer's Market. For the time being I only have some clear 8/0 beads at $1.-/0z, but they're not very regular.

More pearls, some daisy spacers, shell beads ...
Too much to put in the subject line :-).
2 orders came today, the one with the new pearls (200 strands this time) that spent 4 days in Nashua, NH, and also has some crimp covers, shell beads, coin pearls, and so-called mini-collars, 13 piece graduated size rectangular beads in several different gemstones. The other one has 24 gauge sterling silver wire, half-hard round, 5 hole daisy spacers and some more 4mm jet black Swarovski bicones as I use those a lot.
2 more orders went out today, 4mm Swarovski bicones in funky 2AB colors and more findings.
One more to do, Czech seed beads and Czech cut crystals. Hoping to get that done today or over the weekend.

More things on order
As the weather was really bad this weekend, and still is, I had some time to sort through some things and order a few more things. An order for more fresh water pearls went out on Thursday, some coin pearls as well this time (but unfortunately not at the same price as the other ones), and as I made a bracelet for a friend as a belated birthday present and ran myself almost out of 3 hole daisy spacer bars during that I ordered some new ones today, and not only 3 hole ones but also 2 and 5 hole ones. While I was at that I also ordered 24 gauge sterling silver wire, some sterling ear hooks and some small plastic bags. I hope the shipping on the latter doesn't make that close to prohibitive. I'm going to add another web page for "other" items, like tools, packing materials, etc.. I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to add the
"one time only" items to that at some point. I have some of those now, as I found 2 heishi shell necklaces and a necklace made of metal spacer beads for sale somewhere, and while I'm sure one of the two spacer bead types used is base metal (6mm hollow round large hole, there's 34 of them), I'm not sure about the barrel beads because those are rather heavy, not very shiny and much lighter in color than un-plated pewter.
I managed to sort out the mixed color fire polished crystals and put them on the crystals web page - even if most of the other web pages still refer to that at "Swarovski Crystals" - that's in the works.
As the weather is concerned: Hilo set a new rain record for the 2nd of Feb. yesterday, 10.82", breaking the old one of 7.34" set in 1969. Waiakea Uka, one of the 'suburbs' recorded almost 19". We had somewhere on the order of 10 or 12, the Piihonua rain gauge (in our area) stopped either reading out or transmitting data some time yesterday - there is no data for us. We didn't lose power, we're not flooded - though the carport was for a while, which leads to flooding in one room if left to itself, and the cesspool filling up from the top when when water runs across the walkway for too long -, but we don't like it very much and neither do the cats.

More gemstones

Got the new gemstones up (jadeite, onyx, picasso jasper and blackstone donuts). Still working on the fire polished crystals and sterling silver wire (by the foot, cut to order). I also have a lb of clear 8/0 seed beads that's I'll be selling by the ounce or 2 ounce package.
Other than that, I'm still doing lot of web-site cleanup. All the web pages have been relocated at least once, and I haven't relocated the images yet, that's another re-organization project. If you find broken links, please let me know.

Lampwork, and some other things
To start with some other things:
As I have now started selling fresh water pearls that I meant to keep I'll order more of those, probably sooner rather than later.
I will be bringing in some Swarovski crystals in AB2X rather pastelly colors that aren't really my colors (or coatings), but as they are wanted here by somebody I'll be bringing them in. For all I know they aren't otherwise available in Hilo.
Some of my earrings and eyelash scrunchies (for now, this may very well expand) are now available from Adah Glasser at the Hilo Farmer's Market on Saturdays, later in the morning and well into the afternoon. she's at the mauka end, Puna side of Mamo Street, fairly close to Ratana (of Ratana's Green Papaya Salad, which is pretty good, so, OK, and Ratana doesn't know I'm writing this: it is great!, and so are her summer rolls (have to be rather early to get any) and the chicken pumpkin curry) - that's all I tried so far.)
A lady who got Job's Tears from me started posting some advice on how to make jewelry with them, and probably will probably post some more jewelry making advice in general. We never met in person (yet), but I learned (quite) a few things from her.
I'm not going to get heavily into yarn selling or making a lot of things with eyelash yarn, but I found an offer that was just too good to refuse for any eyelash yarn I can think of having use for right now: I now have 150+ skeins of eyelash yarn, mostly in primary colors but some fun stuff too. Willing to sell at about Ebay level - some colors more likely than others.
Now to lampwork:
I'm an almost complete novice to lampwork, I made one bead before that's hanging from my cell phone, in the studio of Kalera Stratton under her supervision and with her advice. Yesterday and today I took a beginning lampwork class from Eva Anderson here in Hilo.
I find this highly addictive and at the same time with my almost complete lack of fine motor control quite challenging. Knowing some physics most certainly helps ...
But, 2 of the 4 beads I made yesterday broke after going into the kiln. As they didn't shatter completely it may be possible to glue them back together. I hope today's beads fare better. I find this highly addictive (applied physics taken together with my fine motor control challenge. It's got to be possible to get past the latter), so at some point I'll most certainly get back to lampwork.
I'll post pictures when I can, my 'light tent' depends on sunlight, and there isn't a whole lot of that right now.

Fresh Water Pearls sold out (well, almost)
4 days after I posted the fresh water pearls on Craigslist they're on the way to NY State. The only ones I have left are the 12 strands I took out for myself to keep. I can sell those, but I'm not going to go to great length doing so. I'll be ordering more, probably on the weekend.
